KARACHI: The authorities, currently busy razing illegal party offices of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), have also launched a crackdown against illegal offices of the banned Peoples Amn Committee (PAC).

On Saturday, PAC's offices in Kalri, Moosa Lane, Mira Pir and Kalakot areas of Lyari were demolished, confirmed City SSP Faizullah Korejo.

Moreover, the location of PAC's illegal offices was also identified. The offices are present in Malir, Al-Falah, Mawach Goth, Gulbahar, Ilyas Goth, Sharafi Goth, Yousuf Goth, Old Golimar, Saeedabad and parts of Lyari, including Al-Falah Road, Singu Lane, Sarbazi Mohallah and Ali Muhammad Mohallah.

According to the police, the offices were established illegally on government and privately owned lands. The police are surveying the offices and will prepare a final list of the offices which will be demolished.

PAC had established its offices not only in Karachi but in different parts of the country shortly after it was established in 2008-9.

It was later banned by the home ministry under the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.

Its present chief, Uzair Baloch, remains in custody of law enforcers after he was arrested by Rangers a few months back.

Operation against MQM

Moreover, two offices of the MQM were demolished on Saturday in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Jauhar localities.

The offices are said to have been established illegally.
