PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court issued contempt of court notices to the secretary and director of the education department on Thursday. PHC has ordered them to file replies for failing to implement court orders in an appointment case.

The contempt notice was filed by Zakir Abbas through his counsel Aminur Rahman. The division bench comprising Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Ibrahim Khan heard the case.

Rehman said the petitioner has done an MSc in Geography and applied for a teaching post advertised by the education department.  He maintained that the authority did not consider Zakir because he belonged to the Frontier Region.

Rahman said a judgment was already passed by Justice Afridi, directing authorities to accommodate the petitioner. When the petitioner contacted the authorities about the position he was told the position had been filled.
