Three more gas pipelines blown up in Balochistan

Three more gas pipelines get blown up,halting the gas supply to the purification plant in the Sui gas field.

QUETTA: Three more gas pipelines were blown up in the Bugti tribal territory on Saturday, halting the gas supply to the purification plant in the Sui gas field.

According to police officials, the explosives had been planted on an eight-inch-diametre pipeline and a 16-inch-diametre gas pipeline in the Pir Koh area. Another six-inch-diametre gas pipeline was blown up near Sui.

Levies and police personnel reached the site and cordoned off the area. Pipelines are being repaired, a senior police officer said. He said that it was very likely that people from among the local community were involved in the explosions.

Over the past week, as many as eight pipelines have been blown up, including two high-pressure pipelines near Dera Murad Jamali, depriving Balochistan of natural gas. The province has gone without gas for the past four days. However, natural gas supply to Quetta and some small townships was restored on Friday, albeit with low pressure.

According to an official of the Sui Southern Gas Company, Inayatullah Ismail, gas supply to Balochistan was to be completely restored by Saturday night.

Disintegrating the Union and the Federation. These natural resources are neither Punjab's nor the Balochis. They are the property of Pakistan, and all Pakistanis have a legitimate right on them. As far as the distribution of such resources is concerned, I cannot agree with you more that they have been unjustly distributed. However, this does not mean that you or anybody for that matter, creates any sort of hysteria about integration the Federation of Pakistan. So I advise you that you rethink your position on your resolve of creating an independent Balochistan. If you don't you are a traitor to your country and to the Pakistani people. And no conditions or circumstances whatsoever permit anybody from damaging or blowing up essential and vital infrastructure. If you do not welcome people to your province, how do you expect the rest to initiate any friendly gesture? For goodness sake, stop this ethnic discrimination and provincialism. It is elements like you that distort our already weakened identity. Learn to rally behind one flag. But I guess to maintain the status quo and suppress the existing peasantry on your tribal lands, it is not in your best interest to educate those over you rule.

It seems from this distance that they only represent the Sardars, who seem to want to become filthy-rich Emirs, as along the other side of the Gulf. I have read nothing about securing the riches of Balochistan for the people, nothing about democracy for Balochistan. For whom are the pipelines being blown up?

Sometimes you call Baloch's agents of India at other times agents of Afghanistan, sometimes you start calling us agents of the CIA, America. Get this thing clear in your minds, No amount of dilly dallying and finger pointing can weaken our resolve. The only solution is complete removal of the occupying forces and nothing short of that. Next time dont cry if you find a punjabi cleared of the face of Balochistan, think who asked him to come there. No punjabi is dragged out of his punjab and brought to balochistan. So every baloch is right in sending him back to where he belongs. @Maria: Your Natural resources! Oh Give me a break! The natural resources belong to balochistan and not to Punjab. Since when did people controlling your own resources start getting labeled as traitors. I will tell you who a traitor is. A traitor is a paid mercenary who turns up against their bosses. Somewhat like the punjabis who have turned up agianst their American AAKAS on the Davis issue. The americans feed you and you have revolted against your feeder. That makes a punjabi a traitor. It would be better that you read the writing on the wall and leave balochistan for good and never think to come back again. Else, Inshallah the will of the Baloch is so strong it will swamp the occupying forces and drown them wihtout a trace.

Maria | 13 years ago | Reply I don't at all think that Pakistan should deal with the agents working for India who are behind these attacks. The majority of Baluchis are with Pakistan and the record number of Baluchi youth signing up to join the Pakistani military is just one example. These criminals are only hurting the people of Baluchistan and in short order the Baluch themselves will kick out all these foreign agents who enter from Afghanistan at the behest of Indian intelligence agencies to commit crimes. Pakistan needs to highlight this criminal behaviour at the highest levels.

Only those areas where Governor / CM houses are situated has been restored. the spokesman of SSGC is just misguiding the media, still peoples are deprived of natural gas in large parts of Balochistan including Quetta.

Aamir | 13 years ago | Reply I think Pakistan is loosing Baluchistan and not paying attention to genuine demands. The negative forces are all set to break up our beloved country. All nation should unite and raise voice for justice to Baluch brothers. We cannot leave them in the hands of militants.
