
The police station had been operating from rented premises for seven years.
Speaking on the occasion, the CCPO praised the staff of the police station for performing their duties diligently even without a permanent building. He said now that they had been provided with a more favourable environment, they should further improve their performance.
Wains said the department was making special efforts to convert New Anarkali and Defence A police stations into model stations. He said similar facilities would be made available at the Garden Town station.
The CCPO said the an Alternate Dispute Resolution Council would be set up for the area to resolve minor civil disputes.
He said notables of the area including professionals, lawyers and union council chairmen and vice chairmen would be made members of the council.
Regarding the PTI’s plans for a march on Raiwind, the CCPO said foolproof security would be ensured in the area on the day of the rally. No one would be allowed to take law into their hands, he said.
Operations DIG Haider Ashraf, Investigations DIG Chuadhry Sultan, Security DIG Muhammad Idrees and Admin SSP Rana Ayaz were also present on the occasion.
The new building for the Garden Town station has been constructed at a cost of Rs12 million.
