The new cases are a serious blow to district and health authorities’ claims of addressing the disease.
The total number of confirmed cases of dengue fever in Ralwapindi District now stands at 90.
HFH doctors on Saturday received blood reports for 22 suspected cases from the National Institute of Health, with nine coming back with results positive for dengue.
According to doctors, of the dengue positive patients, four were from urban Rawalpindi, one from Mianwalai, two from Islamabad, and one each from Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
In a related development, a 16-year-old boy from Azad Jammu and Kashmir tested positive for Congo fever at the HFH.
Kamran, a resident of Kotli, was brought to the HFH with high fever and on Saturday he was confirmed to be Congo virus carrier.
Meanwhile, District Coordination Officer Talat Mehmood Gondal suspended Secretary Ghulam Murtaza and Supervisor Abdullah of union council-14, F-Block, for negligence during an anti-dengue drive, said a handout issued here on Saturday.
Separately, the DCO has cancelled Eid holidays for all district government employees.
The DCO said that all officials and the staff would remain on duty from September 12 to September 14.
