Strict Vigilance: Police to monitor activities of criminals

PESHAWAR: The police have been directed to monitor the activities of habitual criminals. The decision has been taken on the directives of IGP Nasir Khan Durrani with a view to maintain law and order. The capital city police have identified at least 700 criminals who resume criminal activities as soon as they are released from prison. These criminals are being arrested under Section 55 and 110 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The provisions state that habitual criminal should show a why he or she should not be ordered to execute a bond, with sureties, for his good behaviour for a specified period not exceeding three years. The police have adopted these measures after widespread reports and evidence that criminals resume criminal activities after serving their sentence.
