LAHORE: Justice Mirza Viqas Rauf of Lahore High Court (LHC) dismissed on Wednesday a bail application by Sheikh Haris Afzal, an accused in the Bank of Punjab scam. Supreme Court Bar Association secretary Advocate Asad Manzoor Butt, counsel for the petitioner, submitted that his client had paid due amount to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) following a plea bargain but remained in bureau’s custody. A law officer for the NAB, however, said the assessed value of his assets was around Rs5 billion and that Rs3 billion was still owed. Justice Rauf dismissed the bail application.
