Senegal president plants sapling at Shakarparian

Aziz says that lights would be installed in area where dignitaries, leaders from other countries had planted saplings

ISLAMABAD: President of Senegal Macky Sall planted a pine sapling at the Memorial Garden here at Shakarparian on Wednesday.

Macky Sall is 130th foreign and second Senegal’s leader to plant a sapling at the International Friendship Garden, Shakarparian.

On the occasion Islamabad Mayor and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairperson, Sheikh Anser Aziz briefed the foreign dignitary about the making of the capital and tradition of planting trees at the Memorial Garden of Shakarparian, where the federal cabinet met to approve the Master Plan of the city.

The tree plantation site is named as the International Friendship Garden.

He said that the authority was also planning to develop this place by establishing a gallery carrying the brief introduction and photographs of the dignities who had planted the trees.

Aziz said that lights would be installed in the area where dignitaries and leaders from other countries had planted saplings and the map of Islamabad would be put on display, which would be named Islamabad viewpoint.

The mayor said that for the first time in the history of the federal capital, local body system was introduced.

The mayor said that in accordance with the vision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif many new mega development ventures were being launched to make Islamabad a hub of business activity.
