HARIPUR: The Government Contractors Association (GCA) Haripur has threatened to protest if the provincial government does not release funds for development schemes.

This was announced during a meeting of the association.

The moot was headed by the association’s president Tahirur Rehman Khan on Tuesday evening. On the occasion, members discussed the progress on different development schemes across the district and expressed their concerns over unnecessary delay in the release of funds.

The contractors said several development projects were under way in the district. However, the provincial government failed to release funds worth Rs500 million. On the occasion, Rehman said the funds were not released and the contractors had been exposed to financial difficulties.

He added delays in receiving funds hampered construction work on a number of educational institutes, roads and trauma centres.

He said if the K-P government failed to release funds before Eidul Azha, the association would hold a protest in the entire province.
