KARACHI: The lifting of remains of sacrificed animals and overall sanitation arrangements on Eidul Azha were reviewed in a meeting held under the city’s recently-elected deputy mayor, Dr Arshad Vohra. Since the last few years, the pace with which animal waste is removed from the streets has been relatively slowly in the less developed localities and katchi abadis of the city, observed Vohra. Besides lifting of animal remains, fumigation and sprinkling of limestone will also be carried out on all three days of Eid, he said, adding that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and District Municipal Corporations (DMCs) would undertake a joint operation for this purpose. The meeting was attended by DMC Central chairman Rehan Hashmi, DMC South chairman Malik Fayyaz, DMC East chairman Moeed Anwer, DMC Korangi chairman Syed Nayyer Raza, DMC West chairman Izhar Ahmed and DMC Malir chairman Jan Muhammad Baloch, along with the vice-chairmen and municipal commissioners.
