DI KHAN: An arrest warrant was issued against former provincial minister for revenue Ali Amin Gandapur after he failed to appear before a court on Friday.

Additional sessions judge Asghar Shah Khalji issued the warrant. The court has scheduled the next hearing for December 10 and has directed the DPO to ensure Gandapur’s presence in the court.

Earlier in April, Shoaib Miankhel, a government contractor, filed a case against the former provincial minister in the civil court. Miankhel accused him of delaying development projects.

Earlier, Gandapur, through his counsel Abdul Latif Afridi, also submitted a written apology before the high court after he was issued a contempt of court notice on May 25 for levelling accusations against the chief justice.

According to the copy of this statement, the former minister said he did not mention the name of the chief justice. However, he added civil works contractor Shoaib Mian Khel, who allegedly blackmailed government officials by identifying himself as a relative of the chief justice.

He added Shoaib was awarded contracts for constructing roads but failed to complete the job. According to the minister, when the officials of the communication and works department asked Shoaib to complete the contract, he threatened to register a complaint against them to the chief justice.

As per the document, he always respected the judiciary and could not even think of defaming the institution.
