Travel
I feel distancing from work and visiting new environments helps you imbibe a fresh perspective. I always come back with a little something from the places I visit. For me a travelogue is a must, as it helps me recall and research about things that appealed to me during my travels, be it a thought, a garden, a building or even a person. I sometimes go back to journals from college and come across concepts that I can use in my work today.
Period films
I truly believe in order to innovate one must revisit the past, so I often watch old movies and historical films to reinvent tradition and study silhouettes.
Historical buildings and interior spaces
I love over cluttered interior spaces where there is always a great sense of contrast in terms of colours and textures. Historical buildings and architecture also greatly influence my collections, from fabulous window filigree to carved balconies.
Jewellery
I love going through classic and vintage jewellery to get interesting inspiration. I see the arrangements, setting and precious stones that have such stunning hues and start sketching instantaneously.
Paintings
I always look at various artworks for colour inspirations and to determine the mood for specific collections.
Floral arrangements and flower markets
I love looking for beautiful floral arrangements and natural foliage that lends beautiful colour combinations and a natural array of colours. I love the way light hits them to create different shades.
People
I am always on the look out for well-put together people, with a strong sense of personality. They carry themselves so well and one often learns how to make clothes by what other people wear.
