Nab inquiry: Former IG get pre-arrest bail

NAB is conducting two separate inquiries into alleged unfair distribution of investigation funds and corruption

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court granted on Monday pre-arrest bail to former IG Ghulam Haider Jamali in connection with corruption inquiries being conducted against him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

A division bench, headed by Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, also directed him to furnish a surety of Rs1 million with the court's Nazir (official). Earlier, another division bench had declined to hear Jamali's bail plea, directing the office to place the matter before the chief justice to constitute a bench to take up the matter.

NAB is currently conducting two separate inquiries into alleged unfair distribution of investigation funds and corruption in recruitments in the Sindh Reserve Police against Jamali and other senior police officers. Advocate Shahab Sarki said Jamali wanted to appear before the relevant concerned but apprehended his arrest by the NAB. Therefore, he pleaded the court to grant pre-arrest bail to Jamali to enable him appear before the authorities or court.
