SUKKUR: In a tragic turn of events, a class nine student committed suicide on Friday at his home in Ali Abad village in Khairpur district.

M* was studying in a private school in Ranipur. His body was found hanging from a rope tied to a ventilator and was immediately rushed to Ranipur Hospital, where he was declared dead. The family did not inform the police about the tragedy. However, the police reached the spot and recorded the statements of the victims' family members.

The reason behind the suicide has yet to be ascertained. First, it was speculated that the teenager committed suicide because his father was unable to pay his school fee. However, reports later surfaced that the boy was suffering from mental problems.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Haleem Adil Shaikh claimed that M committed suicide because his father was unable to pay the school fee. He was afraid that the school's management would ask him to leave, he claimed.

However, Ranipur police ASI Abdul Ghafoor Mojai said that the family is quite wealthy and it is baseless to claim that the boy took his own life over financial issues. He said that M was suffering from mental problems due to which he may have committed suicide.

The uncle of the deceased, N*, also refuted claims of M worrying over financial problems and expressed his anger at the media for reporting the incident in a negative light. "By the grace of God, our family is well-off and our children are getting educated in the most prestigious and expensive schools," he said.

According to N, the victim's father, runs a general store and was in the habit of depositing the year’s school fee in advance. He added that M was studying in a well-known school and was a position holder. However, he said M was experiencing mental problems and was also seeking treatment from a doctor.

"I am not sure what happened to my nephew because he was neither under stress nor having any problems at school," remarked N. "Life and death is in the hands of God but media should refrain from fabricating stories."
