For all foodies forced into following strict diet plans, a deep pan, cheese stuffed crust pizza can actually help you lose weight.

According to a study from Portugal, allowing yourself to cheat on a particular day of the week may help you stick to your healthy eating plan in the long run, Men's Health reported. The research suggests everything should be done in moderation.

This 5-day diet is breaking the internet, but does it work?

The recent study showed that after two weeks of rigorous dieting, the group of people allowed to eat anything on Sundays were happier and more keen on continuing to diet. A cheat day, which can be any day of the week, allows you to fulfill your cravings, be it pizza or a double cheese beef burger.

Winning at weight loss

Speaking to Men's Health, study author Rita Coelho do Vale said, "The key is to plan ahead and designate a specific day for your rule-breaking." Researchers suggest against going off certain foods completely, and say that eating in moderation and feeding those cravings may help you lose weight.
