Intercollegiate: Students prove their mettle

Sixteen teams participated in the Urdu and English speech contest.

RAWALPINDI: An intercollegiate speech and cooking competition among students of the twin cities was held here at the Government Post-Graduate College for Women Satellite Town on Thursday.

Sixteen teams participated in the Urdu and English speech contest.

The topic for English speeches was “A light purse is a heavy curse”, while “Ronuma kub ho ga rah-i-zeest par munzil ka chand” (When will the moon of destiny appear on the path of life) was the topic for speeches in Urdu.

The chief guest on the occasion, the host university’s English Language Department’s Dean Dr Robina Kamran, distributed prizes among the winners and gave useful tips on “the art of public speaking”.

For the English speech contest Ayesha Riaz, the student of the host college, gratuitously surrendered her first prize in the favour of Sonia Qayyum from FG Post Graduate College for Women Kashmir Road Rawalpindi.
