The government is going to start the Safe Cities Programme in six cities, including Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Multan and Bahawalpur to improve security situation in the province. Chief Minster’s Advisor Rana Muhammad Arshad said that the government would spend Rs13 billion in Lahore on digital surveillance. “Work has already been initiated in Lahore and will be completed by June, 2017. In remaining districts, the project will be completed by December 2017,” he said. Under the project, surveillance cameras will be installed on all major roads to monitor the city. The project will help curb the menace of terrorism and improve law and order, he said.
