Tragedy strikes: Two drown in Kunhar River



MANSEHRA/ PESHAWAR: At least two people drowned in Kunhar River near Balakot on Saturday evening.

This is the second selfie related incident in five days. Eyewitnesses and the police said a man and woman were taking pictures on the bank of Kunhar River under Ayub Bridge, Balakot.

The woman slipped into the river and was swept away by a heavy current. The man jumped into the river to save her but he also drowned.

Local divers found their bodies downstream. The deceased were identified as Rashida Hanif, 30, and her cousin Sohail Asghar, who was 26. Both of them hailed from Multan.

The police informed, earlier on August 15, a family from Punjab drowned in a similar manner when the daughter slipped into the river while talking a selfie. The parents of the girl drowned in the river while trying to save her.
