ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday sent an accused in the Mumbai attack case to jail on judicial remand. While turning down the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)’s request to grant an extension in physical remand, ATC-I Judge Kausar Abbas Zaidi sent Sufiyan Zafar to jail. FIA officials had requested the court to extend his physical remand as records were still being collected and verified. The judge, however, remarked that verification of the record was the FIA’s job and the suspect could be interrogated again in jail. Zafar’s counsel said that the investigation agency has no concrete evidence against his client and he should be released. The court, however, turned down requests from both sides. According to the prosecution, Zafar reportedly provided financial assistance to the other suspects.
