CHITRAL: Members of the National Assembly’s standing committee on communication will visit Chitral on the August 22. The National Highway Authority will brief them about Lowari Tunnel and other projects in the district.

This was said by MNA Prince Iftikharuddin while speaking to The Express Tribune.

“Members of the committee will also talk about the CPEC project and its prospective route to the Central Asian countries,” the MNA said. “Water and power project in the district will also be discussed, as member of the water and power will also be part of the committee.”

He said the construction of Chakdara-Chitral road will bring new opportunities of trade into the district. If the government constructs the road to Tajikistan, a new era will begin for K-P and the country as Islamabad will have new market in the region.

He urged the NHA to complete the Lowari Tunnel project on time and release funds for Bumboret and Upper Chitral Road.

The members of the standing committee will remain in the district for two days.
