Organisation: Authority to enforce Protection of Women Act

The proposed authority will protect the rights of women

LAHORE: The Cabinet Committee on Law and Order has given a nod to Chief Minister Special Monitoring Unit’s (law and order) proposal of establishing an authority to ensure enforcement of the Punjab Protection of Women Against Violence Act, 2016. The proposed authority will protect the rights of women and establish and manage operations of Violence Against Women Centres. The authority will be headed by a director general and have directorates responsible for finance, administration, procurement, architecture, engineering, enforcement, monitoring and evaluation of operations at the centres.
