Pakistan beat Ireland by 255 runs in first ODI

Opener Sharjeel Khan (152) was the stand out performer with the bat

Pakistan thrashed Ireland by a mammoth 255 runs in the first one-day international at Malahide on Thursday.

This was the seventh largest victory, in terms of runs, in the 3,767 match history of one-day internationals.

Ireland, chasing 338 for victory, were skittled out for just 82 inside 24 overs, with left-arm spinner Imad Wasim taking five wickets for 14 runs.

Earlier, Pakistan piled up 337 for six in a match reduced by rain to 47 overs per side, with Sharjeel Khan's 152 the third quickest 150 in the format in terms of balls faced.

 

He was equally supported by late order on-slaught from debutant Mohammad Nawaz and veteran Shoaib Malik, who scored 105 runs for the sixth wicket partnership.

The two-match series concludes o the same venue on Saturday.
