Lyrical Evening : Services of freedom fighters eulogized

PESHAWAR: A poetry session was held to pay homage to freedom fighters, through poems composed by leading female poets. The event was held Sunday night at Nishtar Hall. The session was arranged with the support of Pakistan Women Writers’ Forum. Pakistan Academy of Letters Chairperson Dr Muhammad Qasim Bughio and Tourism and Culture Additional Secretary Muhammad Tariq were the chief guest. During the event, female poets eulogised the services of leaders who played a key role in the formation of Pakistan. “[Not only men] women also played an important role in struggle for Pakistan,” a renowned poet, Abasin Yousafzai, said on the occasion. He added poets and writers always highlighted the struggle and sacrifices of the people for independence. Besides Abasin Yousafzai, famous female poets from across the province and other parts of the country participated in the event. Prominent among them were Bushra Ijaz, Bushra Farrukh, Syeda Bakhtawar Shah, Dr Shahida Sardar, Hameeda Shaheen, Naz Butt, Dr Najma Shah, Farheen Chaudhry, Dr Zeenat Baloch, Narjis Afroz Zaidi and Seema Abbas.
