Our Correspondent August 16, 2016

LAHORE: A teenage girl was shot and killed in Manawan on Sunday night allegedly by her brother. The Manawan SHO said they had registered an FIR and were conducting raids to arrest the suspect. He said no particular reason had been identified for the murder in the complaint received from the family. He said initial investigations suggested that the suspect, Mobeen alias Raju, had shot the girl after a brief altercation at their house on Monday night. He said the girl had died on the spot and the suspect had fled from the scene. The SHO said the body had been sent to the morgue for an autopsy. He said the Penal Code section allowing the court to exercise its discretion in ‘honour’ killing cases would be added to the FIR if needed in light of the findings of police investigation. Section 311 of the PPC allows the judge to punish a convict in situations where the kin of the deceased pardon the killer or reach a settlement with the convict.
