MULTAN: The mutilated body of a seven-year-old was found from the southern bank of River Ravi in a Tulamba police precinct, Kabeerwala sub district, on Monday. The boy had gone missing on Sunday morning.

Police said the child, a resident of Manak Haraaj, was playing in front of his house on Sunday. As he did not return his parents informed the police after some time.

The police found the boy’s body at the edge of the river on Monday morning. The child’s eyes had been gouged out and there were signs of torture on his body, police said.

Dozens of residents of Manak Haraaj staged a demonstration against the police. Rab Nawaz, the child’s father, said the police had failed to protect citizens. “We keep hearing news about children going missing and yet the government has done nothing to look into the matter.” The protesters demanded action against Tulamba police.

The Tulamba police said they had registered a case against the kidnappers and were investigating.
