BAHAWALPUR: Dozens of residents of Noorpur Noranga staged a demonstration against Musafir Khana police on Sunday after some policemen had intervened and stopped the protesters from lynching a kidnapping suspect.

Police said several residents of the area had gotten hold of a man riding a motorcycle in their area and had accused him of being a kidnapper.

They beat up the man badly and broke several of his ribs.

Musafir Khana police intervened and managed to extricate the man from the mob.

They took him to Bahawal Victoria Hospital for treatment. Doctors there said that his condition was serious.

Following police intervention, several residents of Noorpur Noranga gathered at the Noorpur Roundabout near Government High School and blocked traffic for two hours.
