Security concerns: 36 I-Day programmes approved in RYK

BAHAWALPUR:  

As many as 850 police personnel will be deployed for security of 36 Independence Day programmes in Rahim Yar Khan on Sunday (today).

A spokesman of the district administration said 55 pickets had been set up across the district. He said public rallies had been banned.

He said the largest Independence Day ceremony would be organised at Abbasia Sports Complex.

The spokesman said Rahim Yar Khan had been included in the list of sensitive districts.

He said police had sought applications from organisers of Independence Day ceremonies and had a presented a report at a meeting of an intelligence committee which had approved 36 programmes for which would be provided.
