KARACHI: Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced a Rs50 million recurring grant for Kiran High School in Lyari. "This school has done a wonderful job of imparting quality education in the backward area of Lyari, therefore it deserves a government grant," he said.

He said this while talking to the school's administration during his visit on Wednesday. The school belongs to the Sindh government and has been adopted by an NGO working in the education sector. He was accompanied by education minister Jam Mehtab Dahar, education secretary Mumtaz Shah, principal secretary Naveed Kamran Baloch and others.

The school's headmistress took the chief minister on a tour of the school and he approved the construction of four more rooms on the school's roof top. Presently it is running from nursery to matric and after construction of the new rooms it would be upgraded up to intermediate.

In nursery class, the chief minister expressed his satisfaction with the children's confidence and fluency in English. The children sang national songs for him and presented him with flags. He sat with students on the floor of the classroom and spoke to them and appreciated their artwork.
