Forty one artists are participating in the opening exhibition “Gallery 6 at F-6”, which will be inaugurated by Ambassador of Austria Brigitta Blaha, said a press release on Wednesday.
Not only is she an art patron, she is also a photography enthusiast and personally photographs the people, culture and landscapes of Pakistan.
Discussing the new venue curator Dr Arjumand Faisel stated “Opening an art gallery in a commercial market has numerous challenges but I have decided to face them, if it means being able to provide a gallery of this standard to the capital. I believe that it will play an important role in promoting art and in encouraging talented artists in Pakistan”.
On entering the hall, one is struck by what appears to be a display of the back of a stretched canvas.
A closer look reveals that it is a stunningly realistic art-piece by Shakeel Siddiqui.
Among the late masters, Bashir Mirza’s bold strokes capture the happy mood of a young boy, Jamil Naqsh’s fluent brush movement with water colours presents a relaxing female, Nagori’s painting contains the political satire, which was a hallmark of his work, a rare etching piece by Ghulam Rasul was presented.
Similarly, Eqbal Mehdi’s painting depicts a Balochi woman, Mansoor Aye’s painting shows the usual moon-shaped face, while Ahmed Parvez’s work is one of a kind.
Several well-established artists works are also on display.RM Naeem’s “Measured” is incredible in its concept and quality of execution.
Meanwhile, a new style of work by Rind was unveiled.
Meher Afroz’s print and painting, Naiza Khan’s print have strong lines. Tassaduq Sohail’s work focused on men.
Miniature paintings by Nazia Gul and Saima Ali, and pen work by Saud Baloch are absorbing, while two sculptures of male and female faces by Nazir Hunzai are incredibly expressive.
Shireen Ikramullah, artist and art writer is participating with an abstract painting.
