Quetta tragedy: CM visits Quetta to express solidarity with victims

Presents a cheque of Rs75mn to Zehri for distribution among affected families

LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited Quetta on Tuesday to inquire after those injured in Monday’s suicide blast at Civil Hospital. He also met Balochistan Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri and offered fateha for those who were killed in the attack.

Sharif gave a cheque for Rs75 million to Zehri for distribution among families of the deceased and the injured on behalf of the Punjab government.

Speaking on the occasion, Sharif said the war against terrorists would be won at any cost. He said the suicide attack at Quetta’s Civil Hospital was a national tragedy. “The whole nation is grieved over the incident and in solidarity with the bereaved families in this hour,” he said.

Sharif said terrorists belonged to no religion or faith. They were enemies of the humanity, he added. “Those responsible for perpetrating cruelties on innocent people have no right to call themselves humans. They are savages and a burden on the society,” he said.

He said the unity and determination of the nation would enable it to defeat the terrorists and root out the menace of terrorism from the country. He said terrorists outfit had been hit hard in the Zarb-i-Azb operation. There was a need to continue the operation till complete elimination of this menace, he said.

Balochistan Chief Minister Zehri said the families of the deceased and the injured people were in high morale. He thanked Sharif for his visit to Quetta and said the Punjab had always stood with others provinces in their hour of need.

Earlier, Sharif visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) where injured people were under treatment. Speaking to the injured people, he said he had brought a message of solidarity from the people of the Punjab.
