DERA GHAZI KHAN: Two members of a family drowned in River Indus where they had been picnicking on Monday. Rescue-1122 officials said six members of a family had fallen into the river.

They had managed to rescue four of them and had found the body of a girl. They are yet to find the body of her uncle.

Rehana, 15, her father, her uncle Muhammad Shakeel, 23, Reema, Samina and Sadiq had visited Ghazi Ghaat for a picnic on Monday near the Super R-2 bank of River Indus.

Rehana and her father fell into the river and the rest fell in the river while trying to save them. People in the vicinity called up Rescue-1122. A team managed to rescue four of them.

They took them to the District Teaching Hospital. Rescue-1122 officials said they were unable to find Shakeel and Rehana and feared that they had drowned.

District Emergency Officer Natiq Hayat said they had found Rehana’s body and were looking for her uncle.

Doctors treating the remaining four said their condition was critical.
