KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Dr Arif Alvi has been appointed the party’s president for Sindh, according to a notification issued by the party’s central secretariat on Sunday.

PTI has been working throughout the province without any party structure after it dissolved in January 2016, when it decided to hold intra-party elections.

PTI spokesperson Dawa Khan Sabir told The Express Tribune that the decision was taken by party chairperson Imran Khan.

Alvi is one of the founding members of the party who will mobilise party workers and strengthen the party structure in the province, said Sabir.

Alvi shared that his initial goal is to strengthen party structure and spread PTI’s message throughout the province

Meanwhile, another party leader Imran Ismail has been appointed as the central deputy secretary general of the party.

Ismail said that he will perform according to the responsibilities given to him and that it is an honour for him that the party chose him for the respective post.
