Child abuse scandal surfaces in Sargodha

Father of one of the victims claims police prohibited them from giving any statements to the media

SARGODHA: Another child abuse scandal has emerged, this time at a private school in Sargodha, where some teachers allegedly assaulted students during “special classes” organised over summer holidays.

According to sources, police on Thursday arrested four teachers allegedly involved in the scandal following a complaint by some of the victims’ parents.

When approached by journalists, the parents of the victims, as well as police refused to disclose any details regarding the incident which unfolded in Urban Area police limits.

The father of one of the victims claimed police had prohibited them from giving any statements to the media. He said action would be taken against them otherwise.

According to a local who lives near the school, the institution had remained partially open over the vacations.

“Teachers told parents that students were being called to school during the holidays to learn the Holy Quran by heart,” the individual stated.
