Safa Gold Mall: Court dismisses plea

The primary charges against the mall’s owners are building plan violations

ISLAMABAD:

A district and sessions court on Wednesday dismissed the plea of the Safa Gold Mall management for the unsealing of the building. The Additional District and Sessions judge (West), Sayyed Faizan Haider Shah, dismissed the plea filed by the management after the civic body sealed the mall. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Building Control Section (BCS) has sealed the multi-storey shopping centre in Jinnah Super Market over building code violations. The CDA said that the actual measurement of the plot on which the mall was built was 3,177 square-yards but the owner further occupied the surrounding area in violation of the rules. The primary charges against the mall’s owners are building plan violations — specifically the construction of the eighth floor — and failure to pay Rs70 million owed to the CDA.
