Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has directed the officials of the Prime Minister Education Reform Programme to prepare performance-based appraisal system to evaluate performance of teachers and heads of educational institutes.

The state minister said this while chairing a meeting to review the progress of projects on the schedule on Wednesday.

He said that the prime minister had tasked him to improve the education and heath sectors of the capital according to international standards.

“These measures will improve the service delivery and quality of education in the education sector,” Chaudhary continued.

Key Performance Indicators will be prepared for the appraisal system to assess the performance on scientific lines using best practices prevalent in the world.

The reform team will coordinate with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) to seek technical assistance in preparing IT-based systems and training of staff. He stated that teacher’s training was of paramount importance and his prime focus.

Only trained and highly-qualified teachers can realise the prime minister’s vision of quality education.

Chaudhary said that schools would be graded on the basis of their performance and timelines.

“Incentives will be given to schools management to improve their performance and move into the next grade,” he added.

The minister directed the Perp to set up monitoring teams for evaluation and teacher’s training.
