China has proposed setting up of a joint research centre on earth sciences.

The proposal was floated by a six-member delegation of Chinese Academy of Sciences, headed by Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment Vice Director Cui Peng during a meeting with Higher Education Commission officials here on Wednesday.

Peng the multi-disciplinary centre will improve resilience to natural disasters.

Skilled human resource is important for implementation of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project, Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed said.
