LAHORE: A Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) delegation will attend the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee formed to formulate terms of reference (TORs) for a judicial inquiry on Panama Papers issue on August 6, former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani said on Monday.

He was talking to reporters along with members of PPP Coordination Committee for south Punjab.

“The PPP does not believe in taking a solo flight. It has not yet decided whether or not to support Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) decision to agitate against the government,” he said.

Gillani said that the joint opposition would be taken into confidence before taking any decision. “The decision to agitate will be taken with consensus if the committee fails to formulate TORs,” he said.

Gillani said the PPP organising committee was interviewing people for district posts. “Three names for every office, including the president, general secretary, information secretary will be forwarded to Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, who will visit each district to announce the local leadership,” Gillani said.

He said the government had failed to eliminate load shedding, corruption and unemployment. “The PPP is not satisfied with the government’s performance. But we will take our allies on board,” he said.

Former governor Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood said the Punjab government was not interested in resolving people’s problems. “The Provincial Finance Commission must be announced. The local governments should be made functional,” he said.

PPP leaders Latif Khosa, Shuakat Basra and Khawaja Rizwan Alam were also present.
