RAWALPINDI: A woman has accused a cop and two accomplices of robbing her, and her son in Chak Amral village in Chauntra police jurisdiction.

The victim appeared before the City Police Officer (CPO), Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi, in an open court and demanded registration of a case against the policeman and his accomplices, police said on Monday.

Taking notice of the complaint made by Perveen Akhtar, the CPO ordered an inquiry into the allegations.

The victim also moved an application to Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and filed a petition with a court under section 22-A for registration of the case against the accused.

According to available details, Perveen Akhtar, hailing from Chak Amral, appeared before the CPO and lodged a complaint in which she stated that she along with her son Shehzad Khan were going to Jorian village on motorcycle on July 22 at 12pm when three men with their faces covered intercepted them near a bridge.

The unidentified men pointed pistols and shouted at them to come down from the motorcycle, she said.

The unidentified men snatched her purse containing Rs2,000, and also tried to deprive her son of his motorcycle, Akhtar said.

“The face of one armed man got unveiled when they tried to run away after seeing a pickup van coming towards them. We have recognised him as Aqeel, son of Javed, who is posted as a constable at Chauntra Police Station,” the complainant told the CPO.

She alleged that later Aqeel picked up a friend of her son to force them to come to the police station. Akhtar said the cop also detained her son when she went to the police station for submitting an application against him.

The cop hurled threats of dire consequences to her son saying he would implicate him if he would bring the matter into the notice of the police high-ups.

Aqeel forcefully got a blank paper signed from Khan that he would not approach police for action against him or the other two men, Akhtar said.

She said that the police had not returned her the looted amount and demanded action against the robbers.

Taking action on the complaint, the CPO Abbasi had ordered an inquiry into the complaint. Saddar Division Superintendent Police Sardar Ghias Gul was to carry out the inquiry.

On the other hand, a police officer at Chauntra Police Station said that Aqeel was not posted at their police station.

Akhtar and Aqeel are relatives and they had some domestic dispute, he added.

The police officer said that Chauntra police received an application against Aqeel from Akhtar but later both parties reconciled.

The matter, however, was in the hands of the Saddar Division SP after Akhtar filed the complaint with the CPO.
