RAHIM YAR KHAN: Police have arrested seven people in raids on Friday believed to be accomplices of Kamran Shah, the main suspect in a torture video case. Shah evaded arrested.

Investigations SP Irfan Samoo Shah said the action had been taken in light of revelations made by Islam Welfare Foundation president Parveen Akram on Thursday. She had told a press conference that she had received a threatening letter from Shah for sharing the footage on social media sites. She had said the letter, wrapped in a stone, was thrown into her house on Friday.

She said she had visited B-Division police station to report Shah’s private torture cell but the police had not taken her complaint seriously.

She said the videos had been shown to the police. However, an FIR was registered against unidentified.

At another press conference, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Rana Raheel Ahmed said Shah was running the torture cell in Satellite Town with the support of a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA and his two brothers.

“The allegations against Shah are very serious,” he said. He said involvement of police officials must be investigated.

He appealed to the chief minister and the inspector general of police to ensure an impartial inquiry.
