Saddar police said Farooq, a resident of Quaid-i-Azam Colony, had strangled his children Adeel, 8, Zahra, 6, and Zunaira, 4, with a copper wire. He later swallowed pesticide in a suicide attempt. Shahzaib, a neighbour, told The Express Tribune that neighbours had taken him to Bahawal Victoria Hospital. Doctors later said his condition was stable. The bodies of the children were taken to Quaid-i-Azam Medical College for post-mortem examination. Neighbours said that Farooq’s second wife had refused to live with the children of his first wife. They said this was the most likely explanation of the tragic incident. Police said they had registered a case against Farooq.
