PESHAWAR: The provincial government has decided to transfer the assets and industrial estates of K-P Development Authority (KPDA) to Khyber -Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC). KPDA was formerly known as Sarhad Development Authority.

“Our first priority is to create jobs for our future generations,” KPEZDMC Chairperson Ghulam Dastagir said during a news conference on the merger at a hotel in the city on Wednesday. “We also want to increase industries in the province to achieve prosperity.”

He added they were planning to develop 16 industrial estates within two years in different parts of the province. Dastagir said a new era of industrialisation in the province had started with the establishment of Hattar special economic zone on December 15, 2015.

“Due to the lucrative K-P industrial policy of 2016, KPEZDMC has received over 300 applications for 910 acres of land in Hattar economic zone,” he said, adding Hattar special economic zone expects Rs600 billion investment from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.

About other industrial estates, Dastagir said the one in Rashakai will be the next industrial hub of the province with 1,000 acres of land for the establishment of the industries.
