Trend spotting: Forget me knot!

It seems like the do-it-yourself knotted t-shirt trend from the 90s is back with a bang. While it may not have made its way on fashion runways yet, a bevy of Hollywood celebrities including Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Alba and Minka Kelly have been spotted with a casual knot on the streets, every now and then. Your look depends on how you accessorise these knotted tops — they can be worn to an afternoon lunch, a formal dinner or to a casual office day. As compiled from popsugar.com, here is a rundown of how the three fashionistas sported this effortlessly cool trend.

Minka Kelly

The American starlet’s knotted version of the classic white button-down is ideal for a leisurely afternoon out. We love how she paired the basic top with a tribal-printed maxi that radiated a casual yet chic appeal. Summery accessories, like a Rebecca Minkoff Endless Love Straw Tote and gladiator espadrilles completed her look. We love how these classic pieces played off of each other for a sweet seasonal style. Not to forget, her round aviators went just right with the wavy tresses worn over her shoulder.

Lindsay Lohan

The Freaky Friday starlet slayed in a relaxed double denim look which included a pale blue knotted shirt that accentuated her waistline. Underneath, the star wore a simple, grey vest which was accompanied by a number of long silver necklaces. Her figure-hugging skinnies with a faded design, clung to her body in all the right places. She appeared to be make-up free but the ‘Mean Girl’ sported large, dark aviator sunglasses to shade from the bright sunshine. Also, her simple black boots with a block heel are great for adding some height and lengthening legs while still being super comfortable.

Jessica Alba

Mixing 70s style with that of the 90s, the mother of two looked right on fleek! Wearing a checkered buttoned-down shirt, she coupled the casual knot with rolled up sleeves to the elbow. The model-turned-actor’s outfit gave out a laid-back vibe, with retro high-waisted flared jeans which made her stand taller and also highlighted her curvy frame. A high ponytail was a spot-on choice for the look she seemed to be aiming for.
