One piece three ways: Saira Shakira

Three fashionistas show us how to put together an item from a designers collection

While trends fade, style remains eternal and one piece can be put together in many different ways. In this feature we have three fashionistas showing us how to put together an item from a designers collection, according to their own individual style and taste!

This saffron jacket from Saira Shakira’s ‘Jewel’ collection has a mix of intricate cutwork, gota work and crystals. Despite the heavy embellishments, the piece is extremely versatile and can easily transition from day to night.

I’d describe my personal style as experimental. I always use at least one statement piece, but sometimes I like keeping it simple. I love fusion, so I decided to pair this elegant Saira Shakira jacket with a mustard jumpsuit from House of Aphrodite to break away from the typical way of wearing eastern wear. To give it an edgy look, I accessorised with statement rings and nude pumps. To tie the whole look together, I kept my signature beach waves and applied very simple make-up. It’s a versatile look that I’d wear to a fashion show or even to an engagement party.

In the words of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow: “In character, in manner, in style, in all things, the supreme excellence is simplicity.” Since this jacket accentuates the arms and hands, I paired it with rings, a delicate bracelet, and dangly earrings. I went for light, natural make-up and got a voluminous blow-dry. I wore all-white underneath and belted the jacket up using a gold belt. I then put on my high heels to complete this look. I’d wear this outfit to a daytime wedding or to a summer wedding at night.

I stick to a classic style, but I love adding statement pieces to prevent my outfit from getting too boring. I thought that since it was such a beautiful jacket, it would be best to keep the rest of the outfit simple. So I wore black flared trousers from Zara and a white blouse from Top Shop, paired with gold heels from ASOS. Since I was aiming for a minimal, chic look, I accessorised with a cocktail ring and a black clutch to keep the focus on the jacket. I kept my hair sleek and wore red lipstick to complement the reddish pink tone in the piece. As this is a somewhat formal look, I’d wear it to a fancy dinner or a night out with the girls.
