MARDAN: National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) is working closely with the interior ministry to make it easier for people from the transgender community to obtain Computerised National Identity Cards (CNIC)
on time.

This was said by NADRA Divisional Manager Qaiser Khan while speaking to social activists in Mardan on Tuesday.

“We are trying to make sure they do no face any hardships while going through the process,” he said. “People can’t obtain CNICs without having a domicile. We are making this process easier for people who are transgender. They will obtain their cards with comparative ease.”

He added the relevant officers have been notified in this regard. Mardan DSP Rural said efforts have been made to provide protection to the transgender community in the district.

”We have introduced a monitoring system for their protection on the IGP’s directives,” he said. “If their activities are registered at the police station, nobody will be able to harm them.”
