Egypt president lauds Pakistan Army’s successes in war on terror

Army chief General Raheel Sharif witnesses activities, trainings and exercises carried out by Egyptian Special Forces

Egypt President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has lauded Pakistan Army’s successes in fighting terrorism and its efforts for regional stability, the military's media wing said on Tuesday.



The remarks by the Egyptian president came during his meeting with Army chief General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday in Cairo.





Regional security situation and prevalent and emerging security challenges also came under discussion during the meeting, DG ISPR Lt-Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa tweeted.

“Army chief emphasised the need for the world and Muslim ummah to unite in fighting the menace of terrorism.”



General Raheel also met Sheikhul Azhar at Egypt’s Al-Azhar university and the latter applauded Pakistan’s efforts towards eliminating terrorism.



Earlier, the army chief witnessed activities, trainings and exercises carried out by the Egyptian Special Forces and appreciated their skills and capabilities.



The COAS arrived in Cairo on Monday on a two-day official visit. He was presented a guard of honour at the Egyptian Army Headquarters, where he held separate meetings with Commander-in-Chief and Minister of Defence Colonel General Sedki Sobhi and the Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Mahmoud Hegazy.
