Flooding risk: Desilting of nullahs ordered

RAWALPINDI:  

The Rawalpindi district administration has directed Rawalpindi Solid Waste and Management Company (RSWM) to clean and desilt all nullahs in Rawalpindi to ward off risk of flooding during the monsoon.

District Coordination Officer Talat Mehmood Gondal said that adequate arrangements are being made for the cleaning of drains and streams in the city.

Gondal had given these directives to ensure smooth flow of water during the forecasted heavy rainfall and to prevent any unwanted situation. Chairing a meeting to review anti-dengue arrangements here on Monday, he said that anti-dengue activities should be expedited keeping in view the weather and prevailing environment.

He directed the concerned authorities to carry out surveillance activities to trace larva and its eradication should be expedited.

He directed that checking and surveillance of public places must be ensured.
