PESHAWAR: Members of the Mustaqbil Pakistan Party (MPP) said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) must pass through underprivileged areas and be constructed on its original route.

MPP Senior Vice President Roshan Khattak told journalists at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday that his party has witnessed considerable uncertainty among the residents of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) as they had been deprived of their rights for a long time.

“A committee was formed by MPP Chairperson Nadeem Mumtaz Qureshi to look into the matter,” Khattak said.

He added the committee outlined that there was a more stable situation in the province and the federal government must pay special attention to K-P.

According to Khattak, the current situation in the province was quite unlike the doom and gloom scenario that had gripped the province in the past when investors would hesitate to bring their finances to the region.
