Security vehicle targeted in Quetta blast

No casualties reported, blast caused by IED device planted on a bicycle parked on the road.

QUETTA: A security vehicle was targeted in a blast that occurred in the Hazarganji area of Quetta on Saturday.

According to Express 24/7 correspondent, Mohammad Kazim, authorities said an improvised explosive device (IED) had been planted in a bicycle standing on the roadside and it was detonated when the security forces' vehicle was by it.

No casualties were reported. Police cordoned off the area and started a search operation for the perpetrators.

Earlier this week, five security personnel, including an SHO, were shot dead by gunmen in Mach town of Bolan district. Later in the day, assailants also opened fire on a Frontier Corps vehicle and Assistant Commissioner Mach in Ab-e-Gum area.

The Balochistan province has seen many incidents of unrest in the recent past with frequent attacks on security personnel.
