MULTAN: A police official probing the murder of social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch has been suspended for poor investigation and negligence, Multan City Police Officer Azhar Ikram said on Tuesday.

Homicide Unit (in-charge) Inspector Ilyas Haider was doing ground investigation into the murder case.

Inspector Attiya Jafri will replace him, Ikram told The Express Tribune. She is famous for conducting transparent investigations into murder, rape and acid attack cases.

Sources in the police told The Express Tribune that Haider was found to be ‘soft’ on Mufti Abdul Qavi and was seen ‘favouring’ him.

Meanwhile, police had decided to shift self-confessed murderer Waseem, Qandeel’s younger brother, to Lahore for polygraph (lie detector) test.
