Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday sought replies from the provincial government and the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) on a petition requesting the court to start contempt proceedings against the respondent authorities for not implementing its order banning rallies and protest demonstrations on The Mall. The counsel for the Mall Road Traders’ Association submitted that following the LHC’s directive, the provincial government had passed a law imposing ban on rallies and protest demonstrations on The Mall. The judge directed the respondents to file their replies by August 1.
